Judging process

Because the awards attract a large number of entries it is necessary to draw up a shortlist, which is compiled by Legal Week’s editorial team in consultation with the ACC Middle East chapter and the chair of the judging panel. The winning entries are chosen by a panel of judges made up of senior Middle East-based in-house lawyers and other leading figures from within the business community. The judges meet in person to debate the merits of each shortlisted entry and choose the winners. Panel members are asked to declare any interests to the chair of the panel and will recuse themselves from judging categories in cases where it is regarded that their connection with a particular entry is too close. Each category is judged by at least four judges and in cases were a consensus cannot be reached, the chair of the panel has the final say.
